Key Lessons Learned

Lessons learned about tools and tactics through the project that other sustainability directors could use to advance their work.

Be sure to leverage multi-sector partnerships for impact.  The lessons learned around the long timeline for solar financing helped inform both the next steps of this project and the expectations for future opportunities. The solar assessments provided a roadmap for future solar adoption, both through private and public funding opportunities.

Lessons for developing a collaborative process between a local government sustainability director and local place-based foundation(s).

Design a concrete project with tangible benefits that leverages the expertise and relationships of the various project entities; and involve a partner(s) with an existing relationship(s) with a local place-based foundation(s).
